things you want to know

what is mircoblading?

Microblading is the process of using a very fine razor blade to make tiny cuts and insert pigment to the outer surface of the skin. This service creates a realistic tattoo of individual eyebrow hairs, “strokes”. Microblading is perfect for clients who have very sparse brows or even none at all, and even for filling in smaller areas to create a perfect shape.

What is the difference between Microblading and tattoo shading?

Both are great techniques for tattooing eyebrows, machine shading is done with a tattoo machine and this creates more of a softer finish, similar to the way you may apply your makeup. The choice is yours although I am always here to recommend what I see would be best for your skin type and color retention.

How many treatments do I need and is it permanent?

While they are called “permanent cosmetics”, over time your tattoos will fade. You will have the initial appointment, followed by a touch-up (included) at 4-6 weeks. After this, on average, clients will need to have yearly touch-ups to maintain their shape and color.

What is the healing process?

There is no downtime with cosmetic tattooing, just your initial periods of healing after each treatment. This healing process takes approximately 7-10 days in which you will experience some dryness and flaking, as well as lightening of color. You will be sent home with guidelines to gently care for your tattoo throughout this process.

What are common contraindications? what do I need to do before my appointment?

While you will fill out an extensive health history form upon arrival, you must be sure that you don’t use any Retin-A type medications or prescription acne medications/products. If these are a part of your daily routine you will need to be off of them for a minimum of 60 days prior to tattooing.

For anyone using any type of lash enhancing serum (to enhance lashes or brows) you must be off of this for a minimum of 60 days as well. Anyone who has a high risk of bleeding or taking any type of blood thinner should discuss this with me prior to your session.

Lastly, limit alcohol and caffeine intake for 24 hours prior to your appointment. Both alcohol and caffeine can affect the amount of bleeding, which in turn affects your color retention and the end healing result.

Be sure to talk to your medical provider prior to making any medication adjustments or scheduling an appointment.
